MEMORY CONNECTS US TO A LANDSCAPE AND LOVE

There are a multitude of voices, rituals, fragments, trees & moors, food and nick nacks, lists, dedications and words which fall off the line in this paean to Emma's working class roots, her family, loss and the Yorkshire landscape.

“With its title denoting the three ancient counties of Yorkshire, this is a collection very much rooted in place, identity and a sense of belonging. Skilfully crafted,  poignant and memorable,  this is an impressive debut which I am sure will be of great comfort and inspiration to anyone experiencing loss. ”
–  Natalie Scott, award winning published poet, performance artist and lecturer
The Riding's chapbook collection has a sweet taste of Yorkshire, in the nostalgic references to the past, and transports you into a field of your own memories. Emma's poetry has a way of gripping your heart and guiding you down the paths of her experiences as if she is walking with you.
–  Sharena Lee Satti, Bradford Poet, Founder of Spoke & Sisterhood spoken word
“ The poet and the poems roam back to the landscape, where trees and rocks are carved with dates long past their significance, by human hands long-gone. We are in the north, treading on “heather root and loam”, “our hearths tilled by rain and bluster”, in the wide-open homelands that have offered so many this necessary space to grieve.
Kirsten Luckins, Artistic Director of Tees Women Poets
